Make Kids Smile Now Through February 17

February begins our month-long celebration of community service, known as Project Worldwide. This long standing tradition is Texas Exes’ community service initiative in which chapters around the globe participate in a single day of community service during the month of February.

This international service initiative, is an extension of the annual student-driven community service project on the UT campus known as “The Project” which also takes place in February and attracts thousands of UT students, alumni, faculty & staff to give back to the community.

Project Worldwide is an opportunity for UT Alumni to not only serve our alma mater, but the members of our own El Paso community. Help us reach our goal so that we can prove once again “El Paso Strong” and that “What Starts Here Changes The World”!

Get Involved

The El Paso chapter will be teaming up with local charity, Kemarah’s Chasing Rainbows, a non-profit organization to:

• Collect and distribute toys/gifts to hospitalized children at Providence Children’s Hospital.
• Collect and distribute toiletries for moms of hospitalized children such as travel size shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, bath soap, lotion, combs, razors, etc.
• Provide funds to Make-A-Wish to grant a wish to an El Paso child battling a life threatening illness.

Guidelines:

• All gifts must be new, store bought recently. Do not wrap or bag gifts.
• The following items are NOT allowed: Electrical toys, stuffed animals, stickers, bubbles, balloons, and homemade crafts.

So, get involved and choose one of the above initiatives now. All donated items must be received by Monday, February 17 at a Texas Title Company location Mon – Sat 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Distribution will take place at Providence Children’s Hospital Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 10:30 AM.

Local Alumni Group Sends Off
El Paso Area Freshmen to UT Austin

EL PASO, TEXAS, AUGUST 10, 2017 – About 160 area high school graduates have been admitted to the University of Texas at Austin this fall and have been invited to celebrate with El Paso area alumni at a Student Send-off Celebration.

The Texas Exes El Paso Chapter holds the annual celebration to show support from the local community for all students who have been admitted to UT and give local alumni a chance to introduce incoming students to the UT family. The Send-Off  is  also an  opportunity  for  students  to  meet  other  students  from  their hometown who will also be on campus.

El Paso Chapter President Andrew Reynoso says that the alumni group wants to help send a message to the parents that while UT is large, they care about their sons and daughters and want them to feel comfortable sending them to Austin.

“As alumni of the University of Texas at Austin, we love sending the next generation of Longhorns off to the Forty Acres,” Reynoso said. “This celebration is a chance for us to wish them well and an opportunity for freshmen and their parents to ask questions of all of us who have done this before.”

It’s that time of the year again! Officer elections are being held for 2016-2017. The following positions are up for renewal: President Elect, Treasurer, Membership Chair.

There are also other positions available if anyone is interested in taking a bigger role in our organization. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

President Elect:
• Assist the president in meeting the Chapter’s goals
• Work on all Chapter projects to familiarize yourself with the Chapter you will be presiding over next year

Treasurer:
• Develop annual budget and keep records of all financial transactions of the Chapter
• Collect and distribute Chapter funds

Membership/Involvement Chairperson:
• Help to recruit and retain new members by developing programs or processes for pulling in new members and new volunteers
• Make sure to have membership brochures and Texas Exes branded nametags at every event
